Many reservists are not aware of many free health related medical services that are offered through the reserves. Some of the free health services include:
- Periodic Health Assessment – Required for all reservists
- Immunizations – I have used this service for a number of free immunizations including Flu Shot, Typhoid, Yellow Fever, which would have otherwise cost me $50 – 100 out of pocket had I gone to a civilian clinic.
- Dental Services
- Bitewing X-rays
- Panoramic X-rays
- Post Deployment Health Readiness Assessment
- Physical Exams (offered only in-clinc)
- Mental Health Assessments
How Do I Request a Health Service Through RHRP?
In order to request one of these services you must submit a request at least 14 days prior to the date of the event. The USAR and ARNG have a voucher system through the Army’s Automated Voucher System (AVS), but other services must contact the Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) department at 1-800-666-2833 extension 3508 to submit a request. You will need to submit a AFRC RHRP In-Clinic Service Request Form Draft_2016 for in-clinic services. This means that the member will be scheduled with a provider or clinic outside of the military and the results will be returned to the servicing medical unit, or in the case of an IMA the servicing ADMTF or RIO/SG.
There is a second form for group events, which require a minimum number of attendees, but have lower per person costs. You can get the group event form here AFRC RHRP Group Event Service Request Form Draft_2016.
You can also call the RHRP Call Center at 1-800-666-2833 extension 3555. The call center is open Monday-Friday from 0700-2200 CST and Saturday from 0700-15000 CST.
Are There Cancellation Fees?
Yes, there are cancellation penalties. A cancellation within 5 calendar days of the service will result in a no-show fee. Cancellation between 14 and 6 days prior to the service will incur a cancellation fee. Failure to meet GE minimums will result in a no-show fee.
You can find more information about the RHRP on their website.
